No accounts, no cookies, no ads, and nothing is sold. Your trails live on your own device.
What stays on your device
Your trail, check-ins, the last place you looked at on the map and your settings are kept in your browser’s storage on this device. We never receive them. Clearing this site’s data in your browser deletes them.
Your location
Only used after you tap Use my location, to move the map and show where you are. It isn’t stored or sent to us. The weather for the area you’re looking at is fetched for a rounded position (about 10 km), never your exact spot.
Shared trails
When you tap Share, the trail’s stops (place names and positions, how long you stay and how you travel) are saved in our database (Supabase, hosted in Singapore) so the short link works. Nothing about you is saved with them, and anyone with the link can view the trail. To stop abuse, we count shares per visitor using a scrambled (hashed) form of the IP address, which is deleted after a day.
Services the site uses
Like any website, each of these receives your IP address and browser details as part of the request.
- Cloudflare hosts the site. It keeps standard server logs and counts visits without cookies or personal profiles.
- OpenFreeMap sends map tiles for the area you view.
- Open-Meteo provides weather for a rounded area.
- routing.openstreetmap.de receives the positions of your trail’s stops to work out walking and driving routes.
- Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia and Wikidata provide photos and descriptions of the place you open.
- Overpass (OpenStreetMap) is occasionally asked for a single place’s details.
- Supabase stores shared trails.
- Nager.Date provides Victoria’s public-holiday dates, to check opening hours. It’s only asked for a year.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces.
Directions and Navigate open Google Maps or Apple Maps. Their own privacy policies apply once you’re there.
